On the streets, at our Boston Living Center, and across programs, we work to prevent chronic conditions and overdoses. After completion of Phase 1, clients work with their counselors to explore part-time or full-time employment opportunities or some structured time that fits their abilities. Attorney Alex Burns, representing the applicant, urged council to act during the June 17 meeting to allow work to proceed to reopen Tharros Village to serve the people who are living in the woods. Code Purple at the Cape representatives said there were no problems when the camp operated for three months last fall. The state decided Tharros would need county approval to resume operation this spring. McCarron and Lloyd said they appreciate the work of Code Purple and the plight of the homeless, but they saw problems with the Tharros Village plan. Teras does not provide transportation, but you may have a car, and ubers are readily available.

We know that you can have more fun and a much better life in sobriety; we also know that you’re having a hard time believing that statement right now. At Teras, clients work with their on-site case manager and our vocational coach to develop a recovery fellowship and engage work. Clients of Teras may also be involved in outpatient treatment while they develop a foundation in their recovery work, and apply to work positions.
